Case study - Heart of Yorkshire Education Partnership

Introduction

Heart of Yorkshire Education Group will start using Notification Live in September 2025.

The App branded My Heart of Yorkshire is available on Google Play and the App Store. Heart of Yorkshire Education Group consists of 3 colleges - Wakefield College, Selby College and Castleford College.



The App will be used by both students and parents. Heart of Yorkshire uses ProSolution for their student record system and ProMonitor for their student tracking system. They will be using the App to quickly show information from these systems.

Students will log into the App with the same credentials as the would to log onto the college network. Parents log into the App with a username and password generated by the system and emailed to the parent.

The college was able to theme the App to use their branded blue colours and their logo.


Customisable Menu and Pages

The menu can be altered at any point by the college - new menu items can be quickly added and appear immediately within the App.


Students and Parents will be able to quickly see the following data from ProSolution:

  • Lesson timetables within a calendar and a quick graphic with the date, time and location of their next lesson.
  • Exams timetable.
  • Attendance and punctuality for each course and their overall attendance and punctuality.
  • Personal details the college stores about the student such as name, address and next of kin.
  • Enrolled courses and teachers.
  • Qualifications on Entry

The following data will show from ProMonitor:

  • Assessment Schedule
  • Markbook overview for each course e.g. % assessments completed
  • Unit/Module information
  • SMART Targets
  • Meeting information.
  • Course Targets Grades
  • Comments

The App has the ability to create a Homepage which loads first. The college will be creating a different homepage for parents and students. This will include a welcome message and key information such as Next Lesson, Attendance Summary and Course Risk status from ProMonitor.


The college also use Navigate to record Work Experience and Enrichment. The navigate website is directly embedded into the App for the student to login.


The college is showing important websites within the app e.g. college website or term dates


The college had created an Absense Form within the App for students and parents to fill out. The will include the Reason for absence and the start and end times of the absense. This will automatically come through as an Authorised Absense Change request in ProSolution to be Authorised by staff.

The college had created a GDPR Contact Preference Form within the App for students and parents to fill out. This will allow the user to opt out of communcation by post, email, phone and text. The information will be used to directly update the GDPR section within ProSolution.


Sending Push Notifications

The App can be used to send push notifications to devices and the college will use this functionality extensively.


Heart of Yorkshire can send as many notifications as the college wishes for no additional cost.
